Faculty Development Integrated Technology into Nursing Education and Practice Initiative (ELITE)

The ELITE Faculty Development Program will consist of continuing education workshops in five thematic categories— Learning Technologies, Distance Education, Emerging Informatics Technologies, Telehealth Technologies and High Fidelity Human Simulation.  Workshops will be held on-site at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing; via synchronous delivery off-site to our Partners; and converted to on-line asynchronous presentations via our dedicated ELITE Faculty Development Program web-site.  An educational framework supports this approach.

Our three project objectives are to: 1) Develop an innovative Faculty Development Program to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nursing faculty in the application of simulated learning, informatics and telehealth into nursing education and practice;  2) Assist nursing faculty with initiating and integrating technology strategies into nursing education programs to address the learning needs of their student populations; and 3) Measure changes in nursing faculty knowledge, skills, abilities and confidence in simulated learning, informatics and telehealth into their nursing curricula.

UCE

UCE Birmingham Research Collaboration

The agreement principally relates to the Faculty of Health at UCE Birmingham and the School of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh. The partnership will provide a framework to ensure that possible developments in evaluation and research collaboration, joint publications and funding can be explored. Initially the University of Pittsburgh will act on a consultancy basis for UCE Birmingham, as UCE Birmingham seeks to draw on the expertise of its partner in the field of simulation and skills development in health care education. In addition, partners will also consider the possibilities for student and staff exchanges as the partnership develops.
